This video describes the process of material model calibration in EDEM for two different powders and using the results for prediction of the mixing time and flow patterns within the mix. A characterization test using a powder rheometer is used to describe the powder flowability, and the experimental results are used as a benchmark for the calibration exercise.

The calibrated model parameters are used to simulate the mixing of the two powders. This can provide us with information on the mixing time, flow patterns and formation of dead zones, so that a quicker and cheaper solution can be designed regarding the process optimization. Slavina Yordanova won the 3rd prize in the 2015 EDEM Visualization Contest.
