– How does this robot fit into a bagging operation?
The robot can be retrofitted into an existing bag filling system. In the video, it is centered between two bag palletizing stations, one on the right side and the other on the left side. Filled bags are placed on the left side until the pallet is filled. Then the robot switches to the right side until that pallet is filled. The fork truck operator enters the right side, and / or the left side as needed to remove the filled pallet and to place an empty pallet on the floor.
– How much floor space does a bag palletizing robot require?
Ball park number is a 20 foot by 20 foot area.
– What are the bag sizes / weights that this robot can palletize?
This robot can palletize bags weighing 20 pounds to 110 pounds. Tool change out is required if you want to stack different sized bags with the same bag filling system. The palletizing robot can also stack pails, boxes and drums on shipping pallets.
– How does the robot pick up the bags without breaking them?
It uses an attachment or tool that reaches under the bag when it is on the feed roller conveyor.
– How does the robot know when to start and stop?
There are a series of electronic sensors along the infeed conveyors that send a signal to the robotic arm processing computer. These signals tell the arm the position of the incoming bags to the end of the conveyor.
– Is it difficult to learn how to use the robot?
For the operator, there is no learning curve. The operator removes the filled pallet and replaces it with an empty pallet. There is nothing else to do once everything has been programmed.
– How are updates made to the robot system software?
Updates maybe required if the bags change or if the pallet size changes, but usually no updates are required.
– Do you have to make a lot of adjustments overtime because things “get out of whack”?
Yes. All the sensors on the arm and on the infeed conveyors should be replaced at least one time per year. In dusty dirty locations, change out may be required once a month. In house maintenance staff can replace the sensors and make adjustments.
– Can the robot be moved easily if you want to use it in another location of the factory or at an entirely off-site location?
No. Moving the robot can be done but it will be a large project.
– Will the palletizing robot work in very hot or very cold locations in Texas, Louisiana, etc.?
Yes. Temperature does not affect performance.
