ABB is a technology group headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, formed in 1988 through the merger of Sweden's ASEA and Switzerland's Brown, Boveri & Cie. It operates through four divisions, including Process Automation. Within Process Automation, ABB's Measurement & Analytics business supplies level instrumentation for liquids and solids, including the LWT300 series of guided wave radar transmitters; the LWT320 variant is built for solid material level measurement in bins, silos, and process vessels, using ABB's LevelExpert algorithm to filter false echoes without manual baseline mapping, rated to 204 degrees C and 207 bar with SIL2 functional safety compliance. This line follows ABB's 2010 acquisition of K-TEK, a maker of level measurement instruments, and its 1999 acquisition of Elsag Bailey Process Automation, whose Fischer & Porter and Bailey Controls brands supplied flow, pressure, temperature, and level devices. ABB also supplies bulk material handling systems, including the ABB Ability Stockyard Management System for automated stockyard and conveyor operation at mining, cement, steel, and grain handling terminals, and the Dodge Passport tool for designing conveyor pulleys and belt conveyors used in mining, cement, aggregate, and grain applications.
