Cablevey Conveyors, headquartered in Oskaloosa, Iowa, designs, engineers, and services enclosed tubular drag cable-and-disc conveyor systems for moving bulk materials such as powders, granules, pellets, nuts, and other fragile or dust-sensitive products. In a Cablevey system, a drive unit moves a continuous cable fitted with discs through a sealed tube; material carried between the discs travels horizontally, vertically, or at an incline without free-fall or agitation, which limits product damage, dust generation, and contamination. The company states its systems use minimal energy compared with pneumatic conveying and require little maintenance because they have few moving parts. Cablevey offers tube diameters from 2 to 8 inches, with published throughput capacities ranging from about 3,000 lb/hour for 2-inch tubes up to 80,000 lb/hour for 8-inch tubes. The company reports operating in more than 66 countries and serving industries including food processing, pet food, coffee, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals. Cablevey is now part of Akona Process Solutions, a group that also includes Spiroflow, Kason, and Marion.
