About this video
Robotic sack handling has two halves: finding and gripping the bag on the pallet, and opening and emptying it. In this video a Palamatic Process engineer presents the SackBot Series 200, the robot that takes care of the first half and hands the sacks to an automatic emptying unit.
According to the manufacturer, the SackBot range is split into two series. Series 100 empties bags directly over a hopper with a choice of cutting systems; Series 200 depalletizes and feeds automatic bag emptying units. An onboard 3D vision system recognizes the bags even in irregular stacks, and Palamatic states that it is compatible with kraft paper, polyethylene, polypropylene and woven bags.
The vision system analyses the bags against more than 100 criteria. The manufacturer says it can identify a specific logo or figure on a bag, which allows a selection of bags for recipe making, and that it can orient every sack the same way before it enters the cutting unit. The video is a short presentation rather than a full cycle demonstration.
