About this video
A powder in a drum is not the same at the top, in the middle and at the bottom; filling and transport separate fine from coarse. Taking one sample from one depth therefore answers only part of the question, and taking three means three insertions, three tools and three chances to carry material from one layer into the next.
This sampler takes the three samples in one pass and keeps them separate, and it is discarded afterwards instead of cleaned.
