VIGILEX by STIF

VIGILEX is STIF's product range for industrial explosion protection. The documented portfolio covers explosion vent panels, flameless venting devices, explosion isolation equipment and related monitoring or installation accessories. These products can form parts of one protection concept, but each performs a different function and each has its own certificate scope and installation limits.

Documented protection functions

Explosion vent panels provide a defined relief opening when pressure rises in protected equipment. VIGILEX VQ products combine a vent panel with a flame-arresting assembly for applications where conventional outdoor venting is not practicable. VIGIFLAP is a mechanical isolation valve intended to limit flame and pressure propagation through connected ducting. Rupture detection and accessories support monitoring and installation; they do not replace the primary protection device.

A project may require relief, isolation or both. Connecting vessels, filters, conveyors and ducts changes the system boundary because an event can propagate between equipment items. The complete design must therefore consider every connected volume and route rather than selecting one component from a product family name.

Information needed for engineering review

Prepare measured dust explosion data, the protected vessel volume and strength, normal operating pressure, process temperature, installation position, connected equipment, vent discharge conditions and the allowable reduced explosion pressure. Indoor arrangements also require a documented review of flame, pressure, hot particles and the occupied area around the installation. Maintenance access, contamination of the device and detection of activation belong in the operating plan.

Certificates and documentation

Product videos and company documentation explain how each device works; they do not perform dust-hazard assessment, vent sizing or isolation design. A certificate applies to a specific model, size, dust class and arrangement and cannot be transferred to another.
