REMBE EXKOP® - Fast and Reliable Explosion Isolation
This video demonstrates the EXKOP® explosion isolation system from REMBE GmbH Safety + Control.
It protects interconnected equipment like silos, filters, pipelines, and pneumatic conveyors by detecting and stopping explosions in milliseconds. The result: safer production and less downtime.
How EXKOP® Works
Pipelines and vessels in bulk-processing systems often connect through common lines. If a dust explosion occurs in one area, pressure waves and flame fronts spread quickly through these links. That can cause secondary explosions in other equipment.
EXKOP® isolates these components using:
- A self‑monitoring controller, either EXKOP® Express or EXKOP® II TriCon.
- One or more quench valves (QV II or QV III).
In an explosion event, the controller receives a trigger signal. It may come from a pressure switch, spark detector, or explosion vent.
The system responds by closing quench valves within milliseconds. This stops flame propagation in both directions and secures connected equipment.
Key System Components
EXKOP® Controller
Handles trigger signals, activates valves, and logs data. Offers remote monitoring, PLC integration, and is ATEX‑certified.
Quench Valves (QV II / QV III)
Close rapidly under compressed air to isolate pipelines. Fail‑safe design ensures closure even during air or power loss.
Valve Sizes
QV II covers pipe diameters DN 80–250; QV III fits DN 300–600.
EXKOP® Express vs. TriCon
The Express model integrates multiple isolation devices with a touch panel and remote access. The TriCon supports up to 3 valves in a compact design.
Advantages for Industry
- Fast reaction – Quench valves close in a few milliseconds after detection
- Bidirectional isolation protects upstream and downstream equipment
- Self‑monitoring control electronics log events and support remote maintenance
- Fail‑safe operation – Valves close even if power or air fails
- Rapid reset – Once triggered, valves reset with a push of a button
- Scalable setup – Supports multiple valves and devices in one system
Typical Applications
EXKOP® protects equipment across many processes, including:
- Aspiration and pneumatic transport lines
- Mills, filters, silos, and mixers
- Spray dryers and elevators
- Animal‑feed production, breweries, chemical plants, recycling facilities, and wood processing
Combining EXKOP® with explosion vents, flameless vents, or active isolation devices maximizes protection across complex systems.
Technical Overview
- Nominal pressure rated to at least 10 bar
- Dust types handled safely up to KST 300 bar·m/s
- Materials: rugged aluminium or steel housing with mounted flanges
- Operating range: +5 °C to +60 °C (temperature ranges vary by model)
- Certifications: ATEX, IECEx, EN 15089 compliant
Installation, Operation, and Maintenance
Valve sizes range from DN 80 to DN 600. They fit standard EN 1092‑1 PN 10 flanges. Mounting aligns to ensure tight fit. Controllers connect easily to process control systems via relay outputs.
After activation, routine resets only take seconds. Remote diagnostics are available via modem or Ethernet. Interactive AR models and touch panels support maintenance and troubleshooting.
Why Choose EXKOP®
EXKOP® combines fast response and reliable isolation in a compact system. It provides accurate protection, limits downtime, and supports safety compliance. The modular design allows integration into existing plants. German engineering ensures lasting, consistent performance.
