Hapman Bulk Bag Hoist Unloader with Dust Collection

What this video shows

Hapman shows a hoist-loaded bulk bag unloader with a round access chamber and integrated dust collection for dust-free discharge.

What the footage shows

A Hapman bulk bag unloader loaded by hoist, with the round access chamber and dust collection system that Hapman says improves safety and dust-free operation.

Process challenge

Untying and retying the spout of a bulk bag releases dust at the operator's face, and poorly flowing material bridges or rat-holes in the bag.

Demonstrated solution

A hoist-loaded unloader with an enclosed access chamber and integral dust collector, flow-promoting paddles and a choice of iris or pinch valve at the spout.

Technical overview

Key features

  • •Hoist and trolley loading with 1-ton or 2-ton hoists; forklift and low-profile frames also available.
  • •Bags up to 4,000 lb (1,814 kg).
  • •Iris valve or pneumatic pinch valve to control discharge and close the spout with material still in the bag.
  • •Integral access chamber dust collector with reverse pulse filter cleaning; pneumatic agitation paddles.

Typical applications

  • •Discharging bulk bags of powders, granules and pellets where operator dust exposure must be kept low.
  • •Plants without forklift access at the unloading point that load bags by hoist.

About this video

Most of the dust from a bulk bag escapes at one moment: when the operator unties the spout. Hapman's answer is an access chamber with its own dust collection, and this short video shows the hoist-loaded version of its bulk bag unloader with that round access and dust collection system.

According to the manufacturer, the unloader is offered with 1-ton or 2-ton hoists and trolleys, as a forklift-loaded frame with target plates, or as a low-profile frame for lower headroom. Hapman states a bag capacity of up to 4,000 lb (1,814 kg). Discharge is controlled either by an iris valve for free-flowing powders, granules and pellets, or by a pneumatic pinch valve when the spout has to be closed while material remains in the bag.

Hapman lists pneumatic paddles and side puncher paddles to prevent clumping and keep material flowing, and an integral access chamber dust collector with reverse pulse filter cleaning. A compact sieve can be integrated for screening in restricted space.
