IEDCOveyor Vacuum Conveying System
Answer in brief
The IEDCOveyor is a custom vacuum conveying system that draws powders, granules, tablets or similar dry solids from a source container or feed station to a process receiver under negative pressure.

What the IEDCOveyor does
Process role: The IEDCOveyor transfers dry material from drums, bag-dump stations, bulk-bag unloaders, feed hoppers or other sources to a receiver mounted above downstream equipment.
Vacuum keeps the conveying line below ambient pressure, so inward leakage is more likely than outward dust escape at a small leak. That helps containment, but it doesn’t remove the need for sound connections, filtration and safe discharge.
Operating cycle and components
Material and conveying air enter the receiver. Falling gas velocity separates much of the material, while filters retain fines before the air reaches the vacuum pump.
The collected batch then discharges through the selected valve. The filter-cleaning and discharge sequence must match the powder and duty cycle.
IEDCO documents compressed-air-driven and motor-driven vacuum sources, several filter media, feed wands, feed hoppers, flow aids and weighing options.
Dilute or dense transfer
Dilute-phase operation suspends particles in a faster gas stream. Dense-phase operation uses a higher solids loading and lower velocity where the material and system can sustain that regime.
The labels alone don’t select the system. Particle size, bulk density, cohesion, friability, route geometry, pickup stability and receiver cycle time determine the practical operating window.
Selection and integration
- Define source, destination, elevation, horizontal distance and bends.
- Measure bulk density, particle-size distribution, moisture and flow behavior.
- Set transfer-rate, batch-completion and residual-material criteria.
- Specify filtration, cleaning, hygiene and containment requirements.
- Confirm the discharge valve, downstream pressure and receiver headroom.
- Plan safe recovery after a blocked line, filter upset or utility loss.
Representative material testing is the sensible route when product damage, segregation, buildup or filter loading could decide the project.
Receiver sizing, filtration and vacuum source
Receiver volume: The useful batch volume has to match transfer rate, bulk density and discharge frequency. An undersized receiver cycles too often and leaves little time for filter cleaning. An oversized unit adds headroom, weight and product inventory without fixing an unstable pickup.
Filter duty: Filter area is selected from gas flow, fines loading and the permissible pressure loss. Hygroscopic or cohesive dust can blind a filter that looks generous on paper. Differential-pressure monitoring and a defined cleaning sequence make that condition visible before capacity collapses.
Controls and commissioning
The sequence should verify that the destination is ready, the discharge valve is closed and the vacuum source is available before pickup begins. High level, high differential pressure, loss of vacuum and failed valve position need deliberate responses rather than one generic fault.
Commissioning should establish a stable pickup setting, conveying time, filter-cleaning interval and discharge time at minimum and maximum duty. Record line vacuum and batch mass during the run. Those traces are far more useful for troubleshooting than a single nominal throughput printed on a datasheet.
